Why should I be baptized?

– Baptism identifies you with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  It signifies your death to your old life and marks your new identity in Christ.  It is also a public declaration of your new birth and faith in the finished work of Jesus.

– It is a part of the church’s calling to make disciples.

Mat 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

– Baptism is our public declaration that we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

What is the meaning of baptism?

– Baptism reminds us of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Rom 6:3 as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death.

– Baptism declares that we have died to our old nature and starting a new life.

Rom 6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

– Baptism shows that we are now part of a new family of believers.

Why should I be baptized under water?

– The Greek word baptizo means to baptize; to immerse, or to go under water.

– Jesus came up from the water, and all baptisms in Acts were through immersion.
